Hitchhiker's Guide to Religion

About

Sometimes we are not as different as one would think.

The flood came everywhere. The trickster had a hundred names. The dying god rose in every sky. This is what the world's religions look like arranged side by side.

51 Traditions

Noah's flood. Utnapishtim's flood. Manu's flood. Deucalion's flood. The same story, told in Babylon, in the Rig Veda, in the Book of Genesis, and in ancient Greece — independently, centuries apart. This site is what it looks like when you stop reading traditions in isolation and start laying them side by side.

Every tradition treated with the same respect, the same depth of source citation, and the same care in the telling — catalogued and cross-linked so the connections are visible instead of hidden.

Arrange enough traditions side by side and a pattern emerges. The flood that cleansed the world. The god who died and rose. The sacred number that recurs. The trickster at the edge of every pantheon. Same shapes, different locks.

What you'll find

Bestiary

Gods, demons, ancestors, monsters, animals. Each entry has a portrait, a stat block (ATK / DEF / SPR / SPD / INT), and the lore as the source texts tell it.

Stories

Scene-level retellings of pivotal moments — Odin on the tree, Inanna's descent, Christ on the cross, the Buddha under the Bodhi. Written for a reader who has never opened the original.

Symbols & Sacred Numbers

How the cross appears in twenty-three places. Why seven and twelve and forty are everywhere. Indices across every tradition, side by side.

Lost Books & Conspiracies

Which books were canon and then weren't. The conspiracies that grew up around all of it, ranked by evidence — from firmly documented to speculative.

Timelines

Timeline traces the chronology of the stories. Vault Timeline is the master timeline of Christianity, Revelation, and Masonry, with six interpretive lenses.

Glossary & Gallery

Glossary defines the specialised vocabulary. Gallery shows every portrait side by side.

Cited, not invented.

Where a primary text is cited, the reference is canonical (book / chapter / verse, or the equivalent for non-biblical sources). Where a scholar is cited, they appear in the bibliography of the relevant tradition file. Nothing is invented as evidence; everything imagined is presented as imagination.
