“Through Haurvatat, wholeness is restored — the body and spirit made perfect.”

Lore: Haurvatat (“Wholeness” or “Health”) is the Amesha Spenta of physical and spiritual perfection. She governs water — the element of purification and life — and embodies the ideal of complete health and integrity. She and Ameretat always appear as a pair, representing the twin goals of Zoroastrian soteriology: wholeness in this life and immortality in the next.

Parallel:Raphael. The name “Raphael” literally means “God heals” in Hebrew. Raphael is the angel of healing, travel, and restoration (Tobit 3:17, 12:15). Haurvatat’s portfolio of wholeness, water, and healing maps directly onto Raphael’s. The concept of a specific divine being whose job is healing came from here.
