The first and greatest of the four Emperors. Carnesiel commands the largest army and governs all spirits associated with the East — the direction of sunrise, new beginnings, and revelation. His spirits are reliable during daylight hours but become deceptive and hostile after sunset. This day/night duality runs through the entire Theurgia-Goetia system: aerial spirits are liminal beings who shift alignment with the turning of the sky.
The most dangerous Emperor. In biblical cosmology, the North is the direction of evil — “Out of the north an evil shall break forth upon all the inhabitants of the land” (Jeremiah 1:14). Lucifer’s throne was set “in the sides of the north” (Isaiah 14:13). Demoriel embodies this tradition: his spirits cause storms and earthquakes, and he is the least cooperative of the four Emperors. Even when properly conjured, his spirits are grudging and prone to misdirection.
