King of the East, commanding 6 Seniors and all sub-angelic forces of the Air Tablet. In Golden Dawn tradition, BATAIVAH governs communication between realms, thought-transmission, and the power of words spoken into being. The Eastern Watchtower is considered the first invoked in ritual because air/intellect precedes action.

The most aggressive of the four Kings. RAAGIOSL governs transformation through destruction — the fire that burns away impurity. His angels are invoked for purification workings, exorcisms, and acts of will. The Southern Watchtower is the most dangerous to work with; uncontrolled fire spirits can overwhelm the practitioner.

King of the West, ruling over emotions, dreams, and the deep unconscious. MPHARSL’s angels govern healing, love, and the waters of life — but also drowning, dissolution, and the overwhelming flood of feeling. The Western Watchtower is the gateway to visionary experience and is strongly connected to scrying, the very method Kelley used to receive the system.

The most grounded of the four Kings. ICZHIHAL governs material manifestation, physical healing, wealth, and the stability of the created world. His angels are invoked for protection, binding, and the solidification of intent into physical reality. The Northern Watchtower is the slowest to respond but the most enduring in its effects.
