Element	Meaning
Square	Morality, virtue, right action. “Act on the square.” The earthly, material realm. The Worshipful Master’s tool
Compass	Spiritual boundaries, self-discipline, keeping passions within “due bounds.” The heavenly, spiritual realm
Together	The union of heaven and earth, spirit and matter. Degree of overlap changes by degree: EA (square over compass), FC (interlaced), MM (compass over square) = spirit gradually mastering matter
The Letter G	At center. Stands for both God and Geometry. “The science by which we find out the contents of bodies unmeasured”
