“I have chained the tyrant inside Mount Damavand, where he shall remain imprisoned until the end of the world, suffering the torment of his own serpents and the knowledge of his eternal defeat.” — Fereydun

Fereydun is the hero-king who brings Zahhak’s thousand-year reign of terror to an end (Shahnameh). He organizes the forces of resistance, battles the tyrant, and defeats him (Shahnameh). But rather than execute Zahhak, Fereydun chains him deep within Mount Damavand, the cosmic mountain, where he remains imprisoned forever (Shahnameh). This choice — to imprison rather than execute — distinguishes Fereydun’s justice from mere revenge. He does not become like Zahhak; he does not kill for satisfaction. Instead, he removes the tyrant from the world while allowing the natural consequence of tyranny (eternal imprisonment) to play out.

Fereydun’s stats are balanced and high across the board, reflecting his mastery of both martial and spiritual domains. He is nearly the equal of Rostam in ATK (85 vs. 95) and superior in several other dimensions. Unlike Rostam, Fereydun does not face a tragic personal loss; his story is one of righteous victory.

Fereydun becomes the founder of a new, just dynasty, establishing the pattern of legitimate kingship that will define Persian rule for millennia to come. He is the archetype of the righteous king who overthrows tyranny and establishes justice.

Biblical Parallel: Moses (liberator of the oppressed); David (king who defeats a powerful enemy and establishes a righteous kingdom); Joshua (conqueror, but also establisher of justice).

Cross-Tradition Connections: Saint George (slayer/chainer of the dragon); Marduk (defeats Tiamat and establishes order); Heracles (conquers the monsters of the world).
