Innocent Offering

Abel's blood cries out from the earth, granting absolution and redemptive grace to the penitent.

Passive

Shepherd's Covenant

Abel's presence strengthens bonds of trust and makes acceptable sacrifice possible between mortals and the divine.

Abel offered his best; Cain didn’t. That’s it — the first recorded sin after Eden is jealousy over worship. Jesus references Abel’s blood as the beginning of a chain of righteous martyrdom stretching to Zechariah (Matt 23:35). Hebrews 11:4 says “by faith Abel still speaks, even though he is dead.” The first human to die was also the first to be called righteous.
