Veil Walker

Simbi pierces the barrier between the seen and unseen worlds, revealing hidden knowledge and granting passage through spiritual boundaries.

Passive

Sacred Spring

Simbi's presence sanctifies waters and amplifies all mystical workings performed near fresh springs, granting wisdom to those who commune reverently.

Weakness

Simbi is guarded, difficult to know. He reveals only what he chooses. This mysterious nature is both his protection and his isolation -- even his devotees cannot claim to fully understand him

“Simbi guards the spring where the water comes from below. He knows what is hidden. He teaches those who approach with respect.” — Vodou tradition

Lore: Simbi (Simbi Ancho, Simbi d’l’eau, Simbi of the water) is one of the most mysterious of the Lwa, less frequently invoked than the great spirits like Damballa or Ogou, but deeply respected by those who understand his power. He is the Lwa of freshwater (as opposed to Agwe who rules the salt ocean), and more specifically of the places where water emerges from the earth — springs, mountain streams, the hidden sources where the below meets the above.

Simbi is associated with sorcery and mystical knowledge, but not in the Western sense of evil magic. Rather, he is the keeper of knowledge that must be earned through study, discipline, and spiritual development. He teaches the mysteries — the understanding that the visible world is only a fraction of what exists, and that those who wish to operate across the boundary between seen and unseen must be trained rigorously. He is the patron of initiated priests and priestesses who have spent years learning the hidden language of the spirits.

Parallel: Thoth (Egyptian god of wisdom and magic), Hecate (Greek guardian of mysteries and the boundary between worlds), Merlin (the Arthurian sorcerer who bridges human and fey realms), and the archetypal Wise Old Hermit who guards sacred knowledge. In Jewish mysticism, he is like Metatron, the scribe who records all secrets. The comparison to a spring guardian connects him to the Greek nymphs who were protectors of specific sacred waters.

Nemesis / Counter

Disrespect to secrets. Simbi protects mysteries, and those who seek knowledge they are not ready for attract his displeasure. He does not punish harshly, but the seeker finds that truth becomes clouded, that clarity evaporates like morning mist
